Pharmacy Practice Unit

In a first for the Pharmacy industry, APHS launched its own Pharmacy Practice Unit, headed by John Jackson APHS Director of Pharmacy Services, early in 2008.

The principal objectives of the unit are twofold:

  1. Facilitate best-practice Pharmacy Services through Professional Development & Support of staff by
    • Assessment and guidance of APHS Pharmacy Services in accordance with relevant Australian/International Standards.
    • Identification of training requirements/opportunities for APHS Pharmacists, Technicians and Pharmacy Assistants.
  2. Explore technology as a means to
    • Enhance pharmacy services to existing clients
    • Increase accessibility of regional/rural centres to leading Pharmacy & associated Healthcare Services.

John Jackson, a renowned and eminent Pharmacist and current Victorian PSA President, is joined in the Unit initially by two experienced Pharmacy practitioners. Chris Giles has amassed considerable Hospital and Oncology experience during his 10 years with APHS holding a number of roles including Clinical Services Manager at Greenslopes Hospital Pharmacy and more recently, Manager of APHS services on the Sunshine Coast. Chris focuses on the Hospital and Oncology areas of practice.

Adding his mix of Australian and overseas exeprience is Brett Dalgliesh. Brett who previously worked for APHS for seven years has a passion for the education and development of Pharmacists and Technicians having seen how the UK system operates. He divides his energies between developing this exciting area and our rapidly growing Aged Care businesses.
