In a first for the Pharmacy industry, APHS launched its own Pharmacy Practice Unit in early in 2008. Headed by John Jackson, APHS Director of Pharmacy Services, the Pharmacy Practice Unit is supported by a team of focused on:
- Facilitating best-practice pharmacy services through professional development and support of staff by:
- Assessment and guidance of APHS Pharmacy services in accordance with relevant Australian and International Standards
- Identification of training requirements and opportunities for APHS pharmacists, technicians and pharmacy assistants
- Explore technology as a means to:
- Enhance pharmacy services to existing clients
- Increase accessibility of leading pharmacy and associated healthcare services in regional and rural centres
